Release : Shaun Simpson Print
At
the British Grand Prix at Mallory Park in June, Team Principal
of KTM UK, Roger Magee commissioned British artist Rob Kinsey
to paint a picture of Shaun Simpson to commemorate his successful
season in 2008.
Roger and Rob searched through many of the Team photograph’s
supplied by Ray Archer, looking for the shot that would capture
Shaun’s style and energy. After much deliberation a photo
was chosen from the British Championship at Foxhills and Rob began
work.
Rob
like’s to work in Acrylic paints on canvas as they are quicker
to work with than oil paints and can be built up using pallete
knives. For Shaun’s painting Rob chose to work in a very
detailed style, capturing all the fine detail of his KTM and clothing.
Once
finished it was decided to add a small section of the Red Bull
arch to give a sense of perspective and height to capture Shaun
in the air.
The painting will be presented to Shaun by Roger Magee and artist
Rob Kinsey in a ceremony at the Irish Motocross Grand Prix on
the 30th/31st August 2008 due to be filmed by Youthstream TV.

About
Shaun Simpson Shaun Simpson, 20, from St Andrews Fife
Scotland has been having a fantastic season in 2008, currently
leading the British MX2 championship with one round remaining
and also placed 4th in the World MX2 Championship with several
podium positions. A broken collar bone injury at the Czech GP
at Locket looked disastrous, but one week later Shaun was able
to defend and extend his British championship points lead at Brampton
Cumbria.
Shaun’s progress and dedication has been spotted by KTM
Race Director Stefan Everts and for 2009 will move into the Factory
KTM Team. Team Principal Roger Magee wanted to personally thank
Shaun for his effort this season.
500 limited edition autographed prints have been made of the painting
and are being sold at the last 3 MXGPs and the 2008 Motocross
of Nations at Donington Park , as well as being available on Team
KTM UK’s website - www.ktmukmx.com. All profits from the
sale of the prints will go to the Chris Esler Benefit Fund. The
cost of each print is a very reasonable £20 or 25 euro (minimum)
+ postage & packaging.
